Linux Mint 8 Sound Problem

Friday 15 October 2010

I encountered a problem with the new Linux Mint 8.

The sound was cutting in some games or other applications. I saw some messages like "Dropping sound". What was odd is that the sound still worked in other applications like music players, videos...

I found a solution that works for 2 hours now, here is a link to it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/372843

I installed the package libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio, that automatically removed libsdl1.2debian-alsa and the problem was gone.

Lists in Python

Wednesday 23 December 2009

Lists in Python work the same way as arrays in many other languages.
The syntax is really simple and friendly.
Here is a list declaration:

myList = []

Appending data is also easy:

myList.append(5)

Initialising lists in one strike is also friendly:

myList = ['Monday', 'Tuesday', 'Wednesday', 'Thursday', 'Friday', 'Saturday', 'Sunday']

Parsing an array is really simple, the for loop does all the job:

for val in myList:
  print val

Will print each value "val" from our list.

For more informations about the lists in python, don't hesitate to chech the python reference page here :
